About me
Hello, I'm Amy Mills, a studio ceramicist specialising in wheel-thrown functional porcelain and distinctive one-of-a-kind pieces decorated with coloured slips. My work is deeply inspired by the natural landscapes of the Cotswolds, where the changing seasons, textures, and colours of the countryside influence both my forms and surface designs.
My ceramic journey began with a BTEC in Studio Ceramics at the Royal Forest of Dean College, one of the last cohorts to complete the course before it closed. I then went on to earn a BA (Hons) in Ceramics from Cardiff School of Art & Design in 2001.
For over two decades, I have continued to develop my practice, combining traditional throwing techniques with contemporary decorative approaches to create functional ceramics that are both beautiful and made to be used and enjoyed every day. Through my teaching, I aim to share my passion for clay in a welcoming and supportive environment, helping others discover the satisfaction of making with their own hands.
